Brentwood Super League - Season 4 - Round 4

Updated: Nov 19, 2023

So we are back for Round 4 of the Brentwood Super League and headed out for the Quali Session.

It was a pretty dreary, wet, dismal quali too. The best that I could manage was P6 so I was on the outside of the track and it was a rolling start, so was hoping to survive. The start was chaos, with people being shoved all over the place and was surprised that wasn't restarted. But the rain was really starting to fall but crossed the line in P4 by the end of the first lap.

As the rain continued to fall the grip just fell away from me and it was really tricky to keep the kart going in the right direction. I ended up finishing P5, so it wasn't a disaster but only climbed 1 place up the grid, so I still needed better from heat 2.

Heat 2 was up next and I was starting P5 on the grid which gave me the inside. I got a decent enough start and soon found myself up into P4. I thought it would be worth trying to go for a wider line coming out of Post 4 only to find a spun kart there which completely stuffed me up as I had to avoid them & lost of a load of positions, dropping down to 7th. I spent the remainder of the race trying to recover from this really and managed P3 but this could have been so much better had I not had to take avoiding action at the beginning of the race.

The results on the day see us starting P8 and was a rolling start again, this heat was restarted on a few occasions and just my luck in the fact that of all of the restarts the one that carried on was the one where I was at the back! To be honest I really don't think it would have mattered anyway as I was having real troubles with getting the kart to turn and It was just impossible in places which see me dropping further & further away from the pack and finishing P9 over 13 seconds off of P1 - appalling, just like the weather! Let's hope for better results next round.
