We are back to Brentwood for Round 9 of the Super League and headed out for Quali.
I had Kart 20 for the Quali session & it just felt generally quite slow but certainly thought that I would qualify higher than I did in P9. I had some decent battles on track but the karts lack of pace on the straights were my big downfall as I had people overtaking me and slotting into position right before my eyes. I was glad to see the chequered flag in the end but ended up dropping down to P10, not the best of starts.
Heat 2 was next and I was starting out P10 on the outside of the track. I didn't get the best of starts off the line and was hit from behind, probably because the kart was so slow off of the line and was ultimately hung to dry on the outside. This was now going to be the longest race as by the time we reached swimming pool I was last on track.
I battled on as best as I could but felt that in every move I made, I ended up compromising myself for the next corner so progress was slow and on numerous occasions was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. This league is totally brutal, 1 mistake and you pay dearly for it, not losing just 1 place but can be 3 or 4 places. In the end I finished up P10, right where I started at the beginning of the race. I think all things considering and the mistakes that I made along the way this was a lucky result as it could have been far worse.
Next up was the C Final, before the Super League I had never been in a C Final and now it seems like its becoming a bit of a habit & one that I desperately want to break!
I was starting out P6 and was in Kart 11, heading to the grid the kart felt like it was on ice, it had zero grip, this was going to be interesting. I fought my way to the front of the grid and was leading the race until the final lap where I lost the lead, I didn't push too hard as I thought Top 2 got promoted into the B Final, this was not the case, it was only 1st place that got through, so I was off home early and finishing up P2 in the C Final. Not the best end to the day, but I'm going to be missing the next 2 rounds as I will be on holiday in Dubai, so at least I have the Sun & Sea to look forward to. Until Round 12, I'm out!
