So we were back at Brentwood again for Round 8 of the Championship and I was hoping for a much better week this week after 2 fairly disappointing rounds for me.
I qualified P2 which was a bit of a relief for me after the previous 2 weeks qualifying sessions which were disasters. I got off the line really well but didn't manage to take the lead so settled down into P2 and as the kart started to warm up was able to make the move to secure the lead. That being said I think this heat felt like the longest race in history with immense pressure being piled on by Phoenix behind me but I managed to hold the lead to secure my 12 points for the heat win.
In the 2nd Heat I was starting P12 at the back of the grid as I won the previous heat. I had an appalling start and it took a few laps before I started to make headway through the grid. It wasn't long until I made my way up to Phoenix and Mikey who was battling for positions and this then became a 3 way battle with the order changing lap by lap and I had to work so hard for that P3 in the end.
In the A Final I started on Pole and it was a reverse track with a Le Mans style twist, so again we had to run for our karts. I'm pleased to say that my running form has returned and no mistakes or slips were made this week and I got off with a clean start and lead into the first corner.
Towards the end of the race I could see that George was catching me quick and I was just willing Kevo to wave the blue flags to get the back markers out of my way, which thankfully he did (I never had any doubt in you Kevo), shortly after this followed the chequered flag and a very happy Jack.
Next week is going to be a tricky week as I am now facing a 5 place grid penalty but it will be totally worth it as this week I have finally taken the lead of the Championship with 4 rounds to go. Bring on Round 9 #letsgo!
