We was at Brentwood Karting today for Round 7 of the Cadet Race League and it was certainly a day to forget!
My Quali was horrific today, the kart that I had lacked any pace at all and I could not get anything out of it and had my worst quali session in as long as I can remember, only qualifying 10th. The race didn't get much better either as my kart was a second slower than anything out on track so the best that I could manage was P8.
In the 2nd heat I started P5 on the grid and made my way to the front after a few laps but on the final lap went a little wide and lost the lead, settling for P2.
Due to the poor results on the day and the fact that I had a grid penalty for my podium finish last week I started 4th in the B Final and knew that I needed to get to the front as quickly as possible in order to secure the last spot in the A Final.
I got off of the line well and went straight into 3rd but again the kart just didn't have the acceleration in the places that I needed it to make the passes. In the end the best I could get was P2 on the day, not the best result and will now become one of my dropped rounds in the Championship as I only secured 20 points today. The only positives from the weekend was I collected a trophy from last week's podium and secured the fastest lap of the day so took an extra point for the Championship.
Definitely one to forget, but onwards to Round 8 next week.
